Overview
Sangalaki Resort is an exclusive eco-diving resort located on Sangalaki Island in the Derawan Archipelago, Kalimantan, famous for its manta ray sanctuary and pristine marine life.
The primary goal of this project was to overhaul an outdated legacy WordPress site into a fast, elegant, luxury landing page and content system that properly reflects the resort’s high-end diving experience.
The Challenge
- Outdated Legacy Stack: The existing WordPress site suffered from slow page loads, heavy plugin overhead, and restrictive layout constraints.
- Brand & Luxury Identity: The previous design lacked the refined aesthetic and visual storytelling required for a luxury diving resort targeting international guests.
- Content Management for Non-Tech Staff: The resort team needed a straightforward, modern CMS to update dive packages, seasonal offers, and gallery content without breaking layouts.
- SEO & Search Visibility: Organic search rankings were hindered by poor page speed metrics and missing structured metadata.
The Solution
I re-architected the site using a modern headless stack:
- Next.js: Delivered ultra-fast page loads, automatic image optimization, and server-side rendering for optimal indexability.
- Strapi CMS: Configured a headless CMS tailored to resort staff, providing customizable dynamic content blocks for dive packages, attractions, and local travel guides.
- Luxury Modern UI: Designed a minimalist, elegant aesthetic featuring refined typography, immersive imagery, and smooth micro-interactions.
- Maximized SEO Coverage: Implemented automated sitemaps, localized metadata tags (EN/ID), dynamic OpenGraph social cards, and rich JSON-LD schemas (
Hotel,Organization,Service).
Tech Stack
- Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
- CMS: Strapi (Headless CMS)
- SEO & Performance: JSON-LD Structured Data, Dynamic OG Images, Web Vitals Optimization
